Recklessly slow or a rapid transition to a low-carbon economy: Time to decide

At a Glance

A Policy Paper by Mattia Romani, James Rydge and Nicholas Stern
This policy paper addresses the rate of change and transition to a low-carbon economy. The current pace of change is recklessly slow, however accelerating this pace to a low-carbon, resource-efficient economy is both feasible and crucial. With the right incentives, rapid transformative change is possible. To do this, however, we must recognize the deep inequity between developed and developing countries and focus on providing equitable access to sustainable development. Dynamic partnerships are required so that the choice to follow a sustainable development path is determined by the people of developing countries and that path is supported by wealthy nations.
