On January 14, 2019, GGGI’s President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council Mr. Ban Ki-moon held bilateral meetings with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to discuss ways to strengthen the partnerships between GGGI and the UAE as well as explore avenues for cooperation.

During the meeting, President and Chair Ban expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s support as a founding Member of GGGI since 2012 and said that GGGI looks forward to having continued support from the UAE.

The President and Chair also shared that he is currently chairing the Global Commission on Adaptation — a two-year initiative to catalyze climate adaptation solutions — and encouraged the UAE to look into participating in the Global Commission on Adaptation.
