GGG Mongolia conducted a meeting on GGGI’s activities in Mongolia with Minister of Environment and Tourism

GGGI’s Mongolia Team met with H.E. Tserenbat.N, the Mongolian Minister of Environment and Tourism (MET) at Minister`s office to update him on the global and Mongolia country programs of the Institute, key achievements and ongoing activities of GGGI to support the Government of Mongolia and the MET and to discuss action plans and priorities of the Minister.

Main talking points from GGGI side were a) discussion of ongoing services provided through Mongolia country program, specifically green finance, energy, green cities; b) overview of GGGI treaty, 2015-20 strategic plan and Mongolia country planning framework; c) overview of GGGI’s draft Country Business Plan for 2019-2020 and d) restart of official correspondence about a Host Country Agreement.

From MET side the Minister highlighted several points including overview of MET priorities for 2018 and beyond, feedback on collaboration to date with GGGI and discussion of future cooperation opportunities and priority areas for GGGI technical assistance, especially for the 2019-2020 period.

In conclusion, H.E. Tserenbat.N, Minister noted “the MET always appreciates GGGI`s contribution in implementation of Green development agenda in Mongolia. In the future, we look forward to continuous and fruitful cooperation in implementation of both policy and investment projects, which will result in demonstrating best practices of green development actions”.

Ms. Uranchimeg, Head of Clean technology, Investment and Production division and Ms. Ariuntuya, Acting director of Foreign Relations and Climate Change Department of Ministry of Environment and Tourism also joined the meeting.
