On December 16, the GGGI team in the Philippines opened its new offices within the Department of Trade and Industry – Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (DTI-FTEB). The office space was provided by DTI in support of its partnership with the GGGI for the joint “Mainstreaming Green Growth in the DTI Planning Processes” Project.
Director Jean Pacheco, Head of DTI Corporate Planning, welcomed warmly GGGI as already being part of DTI family recognizing the importance of ongoing three projects that will strengthen the capacity and policy planning of the institute in greening their approach in working with businesses.
Looking forward, the GGGI and DTI will work closely together to provide avenues for developing a greener economic environment for the Philippines.
“There are three pillars needed for economic growth: government, people and companies,” said Mr. Hyo Youl Kim, GGGI Country Representative for the Philippines. “The DTI as a government agency work closely with consumers and companies and with that they can champion the development of the Philippine green economy.”
Under the GGGI-DTI project, GGGI will provide technical assistance to mainstream green growth in its planning processes, develop case studies for micro small and medium enterprises adopting green practices, and provide capacity building activities on green growth to the DTI Staff.
