Dr. Frank Rijsberman, Director-General of GGGI attended the 2017 Asia Pacific Cities Summit & Mayors’ Forum in Daejeon, Republic of Korea on September 11.
Under the theme of “Achieving Sustainable City Solutions,” Dr. Rijsberman gave a presentation, emphasizing the need for countries to adopt a green city approach for the benefit of environmental sustainability, economic growth and poverty reduction. He explained that GGGI’s urban sector has five priority areas to transform cities: mainstreaming green growth into urban planning & management, building resource efficient & low-carbon cities, managing Waste as a Resource (W2R), decentralizing sanitation & wastewater solutions and promoting sustainable transportation & mobility.
On the sidelines of the Forum, Dr. Frank Rijsberman had meetings with Mr. Allan Sutherland, Mayor of Moreton Bay Regional Council, Australia; Mr. Scott Smith, Executive Director, Council Mayor, South East Queensland, Australia; Mr. Greg Moore, Mayor of Metro Vancouver and the Hon. Darel Dexter T. Uy, Mayor of Dipolog City, Philippines.
